Join us for Dad Build 2020!
In honor of Father’s Day, we are inviting dads to build alongside your son or daughter (age 16+) or your significant other for one of 3 special build days in June or July! Memories of his Father’s Day build day is a gift he’ll enjoy for many years to come.
This is a unique build, as he’ll be helping to renovate the historic Burd House, a building on the property of Pluckemin Presbyterian Church. It will be the new home of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity, with a move-in planned for October 2020. The Burd House project is a wonderful opportunity for RV Habitat to deepen our roots in Pluckemin and help to restore a historic property that has significant meaning to the community. It’s a great opportunity for dad and his guest(s) to learn new skills, put current skills to use, and join us for a day of camaraderie and fun!
Spaces are limited and reservations will be taken on a first come first serve basis.

FAQs:
How are you implementing social distancing and Covid safety protocols?
An RV Habitat Site Supervisor will ensure that all workers remain 6 feet apart throughout the build day. Additionally, we will have a portable sink for handwashing, hand sanitizer, face masks and gloves for all participants. Participants who elect to work on jobs inside of the home will be given face shields to wear. The portable bathroom will be sanitized twice during the build day shift.
How long is the build?
The build will be approximately 4 hours long, with time for introductions at the start of the day and opportunities for water and snack breaks as needed.
What kind of work will I be doing?
The work will be varied, with most people performing jobs on the outside of the Burd House like installing siding and exterior painting. Some participants may be offered to do interior jobs, but these are optional.
Can I join the build by myself?
Yes – though we request that individual participants identify as a father to recognize this special group. We will have additional build days in the future to recognize other groups and teams such as a Women’s Build, Youth Build, and open builds for any participant.
Can I register 2 or more people?
Yes! We encourage dads to come with anyone that he chooses, as long as they’re over 16 years old. Dad + spouse, dad + kids, dad + brother, dad + best friend – it’s his day and up to him!
Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes, waivers will need to be signed by all participants at the start of the build day shift.
The minimum age of build participants is 16 years old by federal regulations. This is an active job site, so you will be asked to dress appropriately in old clothes and sturdy shoes and sign a waiver upon arrival.
