Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2024.

Since 1991, Habitat’s Women Build volunteers have come together from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities. Women Build opportunities are available in this years Raritan Valley Habitat Women Build from 9 AM – 1 PM on Friday, May 3, 2024, and Saturday, May 4, 2024, and any woman or person who wants to learn how to build or repair a home is invited to join. This is the same event on both days, so choose the day that works best for you. No experience is necessary. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved, and it improves the community that you share.

Women Build is a terrific way to involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. You can also come alone and make new friends. The atmosphere is collaborative and friendly!

Frequently asked questions

Yes, men are welcome. While Women Build is focused on the inclusion of women in the work of building homes, the initiative does not exclude volunteers of any gender or gender identity, nor does it allow discrimination of any kind. Local organizations are encouraged to recruit a diverse volunteer workforce for home builds and virtual engagements.

No experience necessary. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved, and it improves the community that you share.

Our goal is to empower women to help families build strength, stability and independence. At Habitat, we have the ability to provide opportunities for hands-on learning, and, when offered these tools, women can succeed in changing their communities.

Tools - Hardhats, safety glasses, gloves - Safety and task training - Women Build t-shirts - Coffee, water,  and snacks.

Socks! - Long pants (think jeans or Carhartts) - Clothing that you don't mind getting dirty or stained. You're on a construction site, after all! - Dress in layers and according to weather conditions. Be prepared to work outside in any weather! - Bring a hair tie to tie back long hair

Avoid baggy or loose clothing. These can create a safety hazard if they become caught or entangled on structures or equipment.

Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity is happy to announce our annual Building Hope Gala. The dinner and auction will be held on Friday, April 19th, from 6 pm – 10 pm at the Ryland Inn.
Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. With the help of valued business and community partners like you, we have built 57 homes and helped homeowners throughout Somerset and Hunterdon Counties with much-needed repairs.
Raritan Valley Habitat has big plans for 2024:
• Dedicate our 1st Honor Build Home at 179A Grove Street, Somerville.
• Break ground on a duplex on James Street in Whitehouse Station.
• Expand our repair program to help more of our most vulnerable neighbors stay safe and healthy in their homes.
• Help more families “Age in Place.”
• Complete several Neighborhood Revitalizations.
• Educate families through our brand new “Almost Home Program.”
• Serve, honor, and recognize more Veterans.

Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta Partners with Hillsborough High School Habitat Youth to Support Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity

Hillsborough, New Jersey – March 18, 2024 – Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta, a local Hillsborough eatery, is joining forces with Hillsborough High School Habitat Youth to host a special fundraiser in support of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity. On March 18, patrons who dine at Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta can contribute to the cause simply by enjoying a delicious meal.

Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit charity organization dedicated to putting God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Their vision is one where everyone in Hunterdon and Somerset counties has a decent place to live, echoing a broader aspiration for a world where everyone has a decent place to call home.

To help further this mission, Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta will donate 20% of its proceeds from the day’s sales to Habitat for Humanity. This generous contribution will directly support the organization’s efforts to provide affordable housing solutions to those in need within the local community.

Customers who wish to participate in the fundraiser must mention “Habitat for Humanity” when placing their order at Lenny’s Pizza and Pasta. By doing so, they will ensure that a portion of their purchase goes directly towards supporting the vital work of Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity.

We invite you to join us on May 4, 2023, at the Ryland Inn, 115 Old HWY 28, Whitehouse , NJ, for an in-person event including a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing, silent auction and basket auction. We will also celebrate our honorees and meet Habitat families who will share their compelling and heart-felt story of their journey to homeownership.
During our Building Hope Gala we will be raising funds to support Raritan Valley Habitat’s projects for 2023: completing a duplex in Raritan Township, building a single-family home in Somerville for a Veteran, and updating a house in Franklin Township to welcome a new family into a refreshed home that we initially built in1999. We have also expanded our repair team to help even more of our most vulnerable neighbors stay safe and healthy in their homes.
