If you are elderly, disabled, and/or low-income and live in Bernards Township, Bernardsville or
Bridgewater, you may be eligible for a program that provides help with outdoor home maintenance or repair projects for a small donation of $20.
Our volunteer work teams are made up of teenagers and adult leaders. After a small donation, the labor and materials we provide are free to qualifying households. If we receive more applications than our number of volunteer teams can support, priority will be given to elderly or disabled residents who would otherwise find it difficult or impossible to have their projects completed. Priority be given to projects that improve home safety.
Residents must be at home while our work crews are present. Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity is insured.
Typical projects include:
- Window washing
- Yard clean-up
- Gardening/Trimming/Weeding
- Weatherization/Caulking
- Small, light cleaning and repair projects
- Replacing outdoor lightbulbs
- Porch/Deck repair (minor)
- Step repair/Handrail installation
- Small exterior painting jobs
- Small walkway repairs
***Larger outdoor projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We are not able to offer help with the following project types:
- Any work requiring permits
- Roofing or chimney sweeping
- Large concrete jobs
- Plumbing or electrical work
- Power washing
- Jobs that are not safe for our volunteers
